Most Departments are moving towards a hybrid work environment (one, two or three days in office). I’m not surprised, even the private sector is! Check out the Department of General Services’ (DGS) Telework data here. DGS manages the statewide telework program.
This doesn’t mean fully remote jobs aren’t available though. If you’re looking for a fully remote job, here are some pointers:
On CalCareers, search “telework” or “Government Code 14200” in key words. This should bring you a listing of remote jobs.
- When reading job advertisements, when in doubt, email/call the contact listed on the job advertisement to confirm if the position is fully remote or partially remote. Sometimes jobs are posted without indicating it’s remote but it is! A closed mouth doesn’t get fed, so ask!
- lukesauser from Reddit also created a spreadsheet with data on which Departments are remote.
